10/12 Dinner with our Beijing Family!

Evening of October 12th

Mr. Shi hosted a special family dinner on Sunday evening. He wanted to have it our first night but his niece was in Singapore taking her SATs. She had left on the 9th (the day we arrived). She took the SATs because she wants to go to school in the USA.

As I mentioned the previous blog, Mr. Shi and his family including wife, son, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, and his son's girlfriend were in attendance along with me, my parents, and Leon and his mom. We had our own room in the restaurant. The table had a lazy Susan in the middle where all the food could be placed to be shared.

The dinner was very extravagant and very tasty. We had fish, beef and mushroom, orange chicken, tofu and mushroom, fried vegetables, Lima beans, and more. I'll try to post the video but I'm not sure it will work. I have a video of all in attendance (see below) and a video of most of the food (see above). My mom and dad also tried the local Beijing beer. It was hot but good they said.

Mr. Shi welcomed us to Beijing and gave a very nice toast. They just raise their glasses and no one touches their glasses together. It was a very sweet and my dad said that when we went to Slovenia we met our Slovenian family and now we have come to Beijing and met our Beijing family (see photo below).  After a very filling dinner, we took a few group shots of all in attendance. The restaurant waitresses even wanted pictures with us.
